Why did my daughter even ask my opinion when she already knew what she was going do?

My daughter is 32 years old and has been living with a man 9 years her senior for the past 6 or 7 years. Their relationship has been rocky to say the least. He has a bad temper, has trouble keeping jobs, and basically likes to lay and watch tv on his days off. He is loud mouthed and has even told my grandchildren that he loves it when they go visit their father on the weekends and are not around. I have tried to talk with my daughter but to know avail because she thinks she loves him, so I've stayed out of it as much as posssible except where the grandchildren are concerned. If he is unjust or unloving to my grandchildren then I say something. Anyway, she told me she was thinking of going to Reno with him to get married while the kids were with their father this weekend, and I suggested a small family affair where they could get married in the park and we'd all get together after for a barbecue at her sisters house and she agreed that it sounded great, so we have been furiously planning this to take place in a week, and today I find out that she is in Reno with him. I don't know what to say or do when they return if they've gone over and gotten married. I'm afraid I'd see it as one more control issue on his part.
