after hysterectomy?

I had an hysterectomy 9 weeks ago, but docs left my ovaries, so i won't go through the change. I was told we could resume gentle after about 6 weeks, but to air the side of caution, we waited till 8 weeks post operatively. But afterwards I bled, and had period like cramps, which scared the hell out of my husband, as he thought he'd hurt me. It wasn't a lot of blood, but enough to have to wear a pad. I'm due to have a follow-up with the gynaecologist soon, but was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else? Serious answers only please. Thanks :-)
