What is the name of this movie about a girl who gets heart transplant from wife of the guy shes dating?

There is a movie that I saw some time between 2001 and 2003. the actress I thought was Fran Drescher but its not, I looked on imdb.com. the movie is about a man whose wife died and at the same time in another location our main actress needed a heart transplant. When the wife died they rushed her heart to the woman that needed the transplant. Later on the girl who gets the heart of the wife that died runs into the man whose wife died. The man was attracted to her but couldn’t explain it. They ended up dating and with time they told each other there story and the girl realized that she got her heart from his wife that died. I think that the man had a dog too that acted like it new the girl and the perception was that the dog could sense the heart in the girl that belonged to the mans late wife.
