What do you think the outcome will be?

It doesn't mean you can't file for a restraining order against him if you have good cause. In fact, he could probably do so against you if he wanted, and then you could both have it against each other, which probably would be for the best. I don't think his professing his undying love for you in court will affect your ultimate conviction on this offense, or even sentence. Rather, the judge will look at the cirstances of how it happened, your criminal record, if any, etc, to determine that. So, the restraining order issue is separate from your criminal issue and you can try to get one against him if you like. Good luck.
