Fallout 3 strategies: help finding a few places and people and help getting followers?

to get to the scrap yard, just fast travel to the mind field and travel directly north. You will find a bunch of raiders trying to kill a dog. Kill the raiders and 'talk' to the dog. His name is a dogmeat and he will begin to follow you. The underworld is in the mall area in the dc ruins. Charon is there. He is in the 9th circle i believe [ it is a bar]. Talk to charon's employer and he will provide two options to get charon. I do not want to ruin anything so i will leave it at that
