Anyone else think VLC makes low end files look good?

I usually hate VLC because I think it blurs out files. I perfer Media Player Clic, however I just notice for low end anime files (50-60MB) that they actually look pretty decent in VLC, while media player clic/divx/WMP, look like crap. Yet the higher end stuff looks far superior in media player clic.
